Fair Lamiera 2017 > Two months before the debut in Milan

Italy, Milan – 40,000 square metres for the biennal fair dedicated to the metal forming machine tool industry

Over 400 enterprises have already applied to the show. The Lambda academy and special initiatives planned

Two months before its debut in Milan, LAMIERA, the international biennial exhibition dedicated to the metal forming machine tool industry and to all innovative technologies related to the sector, is (almost) fully-booked. Actually, 440 companies have already applied to exhibit at the event, which will be held at fieramilano Rho, from 17 to 20 May, in the halls 13 and 15.

Over the 40,000 square metres of total exhibition area, the best international offering will be shown with regard to sheet metal forming machinery, bar-, tube-, section-working machines, presses, blanking and punching machines, laser, robots, automation, moulds and dies, heat treatments, surface treatment and finishing, wires and metal carpentry, subcontracting.

A more detailed analysis of attending exhibitors highlights that the core of the trade show will be represented by sheet metal forming and cutting machines, laser cutting and welding. In particular, the number of exhibitors manufacturing presses, robots and components has doubled compared with the last edition.

The new themed areas, focused on products and solutions related to metal forming technologies will complement the exhibition, promoted by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE and organised by CEU-CENTRO ESPOSIZIONI UCIMU.

Fastener industry area for screws, bolts, fastening and clamping systems

There are already over 30 companies taking part in the new Fastener Industry area, dedicated to screws, bolts, fastening and clamping systems; more than 20 are the enterprises exhibiting within Ecocoatech, – an area created in cooperation with ANVER, Italian Association of Industrial Coaters – presenting all the most innovative inter-operational processes for sheet metal coating and painting. Blech Italy Service, centred on technical subcontracting and services for the industry, will complete LAMIERA’s comprehensive offering.

The number of exhibitors achieved by LAMIERA to date proves that the choice to move the exhibition venue to Milan, scheduling it in the odd years, has been well-accepted by the exhibitors that have actually decided to present their product offering in Italy for the second consecutive year.

Massimo Carboniero, the President of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE.

Italy country of manufacturers, exporters and consumers too

“On the other hand – stated Massimo Carboniero, President of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE – Italy plays a primary role in the international rankings of the sector. Third among manufacturers, second among exporters and fourth in the ranking of consumers, our Country can rely on leading enterprises that specialise in sheet metal forming and machining. In addition, Italy can also count on a lively, dynamic demand”.

“LAMIERA rests its bases on these two assumptions, as well as on the competence of local manufacturers and the demand of the domestic market, proving to be capable of attracting even foreign exhibitors and – continued Massimo Carboniero – while taking advantage of a particularly favourable economic context in this edition”.

“Actually, with particular reference to Italy – concluded the President of UCIMU – the consumption of production systems is expected to grow even in 2017, also supported by the incentive measures included in the National Plan Industry 4.0, all to the benefit of those who will exhibit at LAMIERA”.

The level of the exhibition content has increased

“If we consider the exhibition in detail – affirmed Alfredo Mariotti, General Manager of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE – the number of exhibitors has grown (+12%), as well as the booked exhibition area (+15%), but also the level of the exhibition content has increased. The event will be able to attract an even higher number of visitors, thanks to the offering on show and to the numerous side initiatives.

In particular, in keeping with tradition, LAMIERA will propose an in-depth, well-organised itinerary, regarding the issues that may be of interest for the operators of the sector, included in the list of conferences and meetings of Lambda Academy. Nine events have already been scheduled in the agenda. They will be dedicated to: screws, bolts, alternative technologies for surface treatment, machinery safety, nanotechnologies and coating, Industry 4.0, robotics.

Pianeta Giovani Lavoro, focused on the meeting between demand and supply of work

Organised in cooperation with Randstad and Ecole, Pianeta Giovani Lavoro will be an area focused on the meeting between demand and supply of work, where young students, visiting the trade show, will be able to get information about the actual possibilities offered by the enterprises of the sector. The area will be a welcome point for over 200 students of 10 high technical institutes that will be accompanied by a tutor on a guided tour among the exhibition stands. This initiative is part of a wider project of “Alternanza Scuola-Lavoro” (work-related learning) defined by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE in agreement with the Ministry of Education, University and Research.

The networking between exhibitors and visitors will also be encouraged through a special project, promoted by the Association in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development and ICE-Italian Trade Agency. This initiative consists in inviting 13 delegations of foreign operators coming from the most dynamic and promising markets: Algeria, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, India, Iran, Morocco, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Serbia and Turkey. The 120 attending buyers will be able to arrange B2B meetings at the Italian exhibitors’ stands.

The first edition of Lamiera in Milan

Moreover, for its first edition in the capital city of design, LAMIERA will propose “LAMIERALIVING”, which will show a selection of design objects that won the prestigious “ADI Compasso d’oro” international Award and were totally or partially made by metal forming machines and technologies. The initiative is carried out in cooperation with the Lombard delegation of ADI, Italian Association for Industrial Design.

Alfredo Mariotti concluded: “With this project supported by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, the Association has intended to enhance how a high-technology sector, even if “mechanical”, such as that represented at LAMIERA, may contribute to the creation of special objects that have become real style icons and a testimony to genius and inventiveness, due to their peculiar artistic and cultural content”.

Luciano Galimberti, President of ADI, Italian Association for Industrial Design, pointed out: “The “Compasso d’Oro” Award is indissolubly linked with the work that ADI has been carrying out for sixty years: a passionate, strategic activity, connected with daily experience aimed at improving man’s life. LAMIERALIVING exhibition marks the beginning of a collaboration between ADI and UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE to prove the importance of metal working that have always been accompanying daily wellbeing and the prestige of the Made in Italy worldwide”.
